COASTAL
Broadstairs, Kent
We loved being involved with this fun project. Our client had a fantastic brief and it fell very much into one of our favourite styles. The client loved plants and the coast for their garden design in Broadstairs. We created an interesting coastal garden with a custom sea groyne sculpture and also a secret jungle planting area. It was a challenge blending the two but it worked beautifully.

The end effect is a landscape with a lot of personality and coastal life appeal, the rough, beachy elements combining with a lush, modern feel including some of the plants. The unique sea groyne sculpture brings the coastal garden together. By carefully combining these themes, we created a one-of-a-kind coastal garden that has both the lively modern theme and the client’s love of the coast in their garden design in Broadstairs.

This garden design in Broadstairs is an excellent example of how careful design can make even the most simple blank canvas outdoor spaces into a coastal theme. Before we got in touch, the garden was just a plain stretch of grass. It was like a blank canvas that needed some personality and life added to it.

We got the idea for our garden design in Broadstairs from the shore. We added multiple areas that immerse the owners into the beach’s natural textures. We constructed a comfortable place to sit in one corner with patio flooring. There are nice metal patio chairs here that make people want to sit and relax. We planted potted plants and beautiful grasses around the fence to make the room feel more secluded and cosy.

On the other side of the seating area, there is another nook that displays off the coast’s raw beauty. We converted the ordinary grass to a place with stones and pebbles to make it feel like a real beach. There is a shingle path that goes through this area, with potted plants on the sides and bigger stones on the edges. It takes people on a nice tour of the garden design in Broadstairs. There is a typical wooden chair on top of the stones in the midst of the pebbled area. You can sit here and listen to the breeze or read a book.

The plants are picked on purpose to seem like beach scenery. There are largely tones of green, and the plants are in muted, dry colours that look like driftwood and sand grasses. Red and purple pops add drama that makes me think of sea thrift and wild flowers on the coast. They add colour without ruining the tranquil mood. We picked coastal plants not only because they looked nice, but also because they could live and grow in the rocky, well-drained soil.

The walls that seem like sea groynes are one of the nicest features of the design. They look great as they curve through the stone area. These sculptural parts appear like the things that guard people on beaches. They make the coastline idea look better and make it easier to understand.

The end result is a garden that feels both new and old, with a blend of textures, colours, and coastal character that works nicely together. There used to be only grass here, but now there are a series of relaxing spaces: a comfortable seating area for winding down or eating, a winding path for a calming stroll, and a pebbled spot that really makes you feel like you’re at the beach in this garden design in Broadstairs. This change shows how even the simplest garden can become a coastal dream, providing you beauty and calm.
