We loved using bold, sculptural elements to take you on a journey through this garden — framing views, defining spaces, and letting the planting weave through it all.
03
The approach
The corten steel panels form a pathway into the garden with planting beds that have plants all around them. It gently guides visitors through the garden. The planting was carefully chosen, they include hardy perennials and lovely grasses, that tolerate Deal’s salty air and windy weather. This design makes sure that the garden stays beautiful and healthy all year long, which is very important for good garden design in Deal.
This coastal garden design in Deal stands by having different areas within in the garden without making them feel closed in. The corten steel screens separate the space without being too harsh. They make cosy spots for relaxation and reflection whilst keeping you connected to the rest of the garden. The naturalistic planting and the gravel seating area add to the calm, beachy feel, making it a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
04
The result
The materials used in this garden design in Deal all support the coastal concept. The warm, aged colours of the corten steel are like the rusty colours of driftwood and stones that wash up on Deal’s shore. The pale gravel and soft plants are like the colours and textures of a natural coastal scene. This garden design in Deal shows how creative and skilled the team are.
Overall, this garden design in Deal shows how a coastal approach to garden design can turn an outdoor space into a calm and welcoming space that reflects the unique character of this seaside town.

Questions about this project
Privacy doesn’t have to mean taller fences. Pergolas, decorative screens, trees and layered planting can interrupt views and create more secluded areas, while doubling up as attractive features in the garden itself.
Changes in materials, planting and garden structures can subtly separate out spaces for dining, relaxing and entertaining. Here, the structure creates its own destination within the garden, while still allowing views and movement through the surrounding planting.
A successful garden usually has a clear relationship between its layout, materials, planting and features. Repeating shapes and materials, and creating intentional focal points, turns a collection of individual elements into a garden that feels considered as a whole.
